The CBSE was established in 1929 as an apex national body for upgrading educational standard and introducing innovations in the field of Secondary Education.

It has grown tremendously in last 72 years. At present there are 8278 schools affiliated with CBSE in India and in 18 countries abroad.

The Board is headed by a Chairman who is assisted by executive in the Departments of Affiliations, Examinations, Academics, Public Relations, Research and projects.

The major activities and objects of board are given below :

1. To conduct public examination at the end of class X and XII.
2. To prescribe and update the courses of instructions for examinations.
3. To affiliate institutions for the purpose of examinations.
4. To introduce innovations in Teaching & Learning.
5. To introduce reforms in examinations and evaluations practices.
6. For holistic development of individuals the board also provides curriculum in
